What to do when your mark-sheet is held in reserve by Mumbai University?

If you have completed your final semester before clearing the prior semesters then your mark-sheet will be held in reserve by the university. Many students don't realize that their mark-sheet is held in reserve and hence don't take any actions regarding the same. Also, the university does not notify the students if their mark-sheet is held in reserve.

So I came up with yet another article to help students who are facing this issue.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to get your mark-sheet when it is held in reserve by Mumbai University:

  1. The results are announced

Your results will be declared but instead of PASSED, the result will have a RLE status. It means that your result is held in reserve and to retrieve that you will have to clear your prior semester exams. Once you clear all the exams, you can go to the next step...
  2. Apply for declaration of result from your college

You will have to produce all your prior semester results before a college authority (in-charge of exams/results) who will in turn verify those results and write for you an application. The application is to submitted to the university (M J Phule Bhavan) along with photocopies of the results.
  3. Submit application to the university

When you submit the application given by your college to the university, you will get an acknowledgement letter (photocopy of the same application with university's stamp on it). You will be asked to revisit the university after 20-30 days to collect your mark-sheet although it takes more than 40 days to process your mark-sheet.
  4. Collect your mark-sheet from the university

You will have to carry the acknowledgement letter along with photocopies of all your prior semester results for verification. Once verified, you will receive your mark-sheet.

That's about it! Hope you get your mark-sheet without much hassle.

PS: Have patience while dealing with Mumbai University staff. You don't want to mess with them, trust me ;-)

Here's what happens when you're caught copying in Mumbai University

"Copying" Sounds so innocent, right? Not when you're writing your exam. For those who are unfamiliar with this term, copying during an exam in any form is an offence and is punishable. I learnt it the hard way. Henceforth, I make sure I don't cheat and try to persuade others to do the same. Many of you don't realise the consequences that one can face for cheating in an exam since most of you are let off with just a warning. So to raise awareness and to help my fellow students, here's what happens when you're caught cheating in an exam: You're caught red handed. No matter how you copy or what method you use, if you're caught then you'll have to face the consequences. Whatever you were copying from will be confiscated (chits, mobile, question paper, hall ticket, etc.). You'll be given a fresh answer paper to start over again. You'll be taken to the Headmaster/Headmistress' office. During or after you co
